Welcome to Sherbro Island!
We had a tip-off -- there may be pirate trawlers out at sea this morning.
See some notes on the team (attached) and join us at the docks as quickly as you can!
Can we meet at the office of the Enviroment Justice Foundation (EJF)?
Victor and Amara want to check the map to see if the trawler was inside the exclusion zone. From there, we'll meet a field official from the fisheries ministry involved in suspicious activities. We should also check out the local fish markets to see the impact of illegal fishing on the population.
Can you get a driver to drop us at the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources? We should try and get them to investigate the trawler!
Hi Juliana and team,
Come to the Joint Maritime Committee (JMC).
That's where the navy works with the civil authorities to protect Sierra Leonean waters.
I've arranged for them to help you track the pirate trawler!
I hear you’re looking for a trawler that was fishing close to Sherbro Island on October 23rd.
The Five Star has just arrived in the Port of Freetown.
You can hire a speedboat at the Aqua Club!
Dear Minister Kabia,
We have managed to identify the pirate trawler that we filmed fishing illegally and we have clear evidence.
We will broadcast our investigation on Al Jazeera and we will name the culprit.
Would you like to meet with us before we do so?
Hi Al Jazeera office,
The navy was meant to take us to the Ocean 3 for an inspection but they left without us and could help the ship escape! (We filmed them, see clip below). We’ll board the ship on our own. The crew may be hostile. If you don’t hear from us with ‘all clear’ by 20.00 tonight, it’s an emergency!
